It's interesting to note that much of my personal work is very "still" and very quiet. But did you know that for 6 or 7 years I made a living shooting primarily motorsports? Motocross has always been my favorite sport, along with mountain biking. Just tonight I was out night riding with friends in preparation for a 24 hour mountain bike race we're doing in two weeks. It all has me interested in capturing action again, so when I stumbled across some of my unpublished action pics I thought you might be interested to see another side of my life behind the camera.

The grit of competition is flying in this photo! Very CoOL! A vibrantly colored action packed moment. I'll bet this is a fun venue to be photographing!

Really nice photo Jim. and I'm wondering if you shoot this photo with film or digital considering you said you used to do this for 6 or 7 years, and i'm just assuming that must've been a long time ago. and if you shoot this with film how did you manage to focus on such a really fast action?

This was shot with digital a couple years ago but the "height" of my motorsports career was through the '90's, with film. Good old slow speed Velvia shot at 40 ISO on sunny days, pushed to 80 on bad days. And a 300mm
f2.8 Nikkor that hardly ever got stopped down. I'll write a bit more about it tomorrow...

Love it, Great color and love the dirt flying, I can almost hear the whinning of the engines and their noisey mufflers. Makes you feel like you are right there.
